Past free Life…

Past …Each and every one of us has good or bad memories, experiences, incidents, trauma, relationships, friendships, people, and places from the past. Some of us tend to live in that past, refusing to accept the present. The past holds remarkable power to influence our lives. It shapes our beliefs, behaviour, and even our perceptions of the world. However, holding onto the past can become a burden that inhibits personal growth and prevents us from fully living in the present.

You have to acknowledge and accept your past. The first step towards freeing yourself from the past is to acknowledge its influence and accept that it cannot be changed. Holding onto it only prolongs your suffering, and ending that suffering is in your hands. Healing from the past requires self-compassion. Treat yourself with kindness, empathy, and understanding. Recognize that everyone makes mistakes and experiences hardships. Be gentle with yourself as you navigate the process of letting go.

Although the past can make you feel powerless, you have the ability to regain control of your life. Take ownership of your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Shift your focus from what has happened to what you can do now to create a positive future. Empower yourself by setting goals, making choices aligned with your values, and taking steps towards personal growth. Be fully present in the moment without judgment. This allows you to observe your thoughts and emotions without getting caught up in them. By practicing this, you can develop a greater sense of self-awareness and detach from the grip of the past. Engage in activities like meditation, yoga, or journaling to enhance your mindfulness practice. Instead of seeing yourself as a victim or being defined by your past, view challenges as opportunities for growth and resilience. Focus on the lessons learned and the strength you have gained. By reframing your story, you can reshape your identity and embrace a brighter future.

Healing from the past is not always a solo journey. Reach out to trusted friends, family members, or professionals who can provide support and guidance. Consider therapy or counselling as a valuable resource to help you process emotions, gain insights, and develop coping strategies.

When I started my business, I realized that the world has changed so much in the last 5-7 years. What you portray on social media (your profile and followers) is more important than who you are in real life. I was still stuck in my past, considering all my colleagues, relatives, and friends who know me offline and have always been there to help me. I was counting on them because everyone knows how passionate I am about everything I do in my life. I was working at an IT company at the peak of my career, but due to some office politics, I internally changed my profile to a junior level and then quit my job because of an unfortunate incident in my personal life. I was out of touch with everyone for a long time. Last year, when I created my LinkedIn profile, I sent many connection requests, almost 300, but only a few were accepted. The people I know well, who work in the same team and know me personally, did not accept my request. I felt very sad that my colleagues had forgotten me. Even my friend told me that people were discussing why I wanted to connect after so many years, if I needed a job. Whatever their reasons were, it was definitely not a good feeling that I was struggling to connect with people. Calls and messages were ignored by many. I started feeling demotivated and depressed. Then one day, I realized that my expectations were from my past. I completely forgot that all those colleagues, friends, and even relatives were part of my past. Yes, maybe people forgot about me, but so what? I had to create my new identity, new connections with my present. And believe me, that one thought changed everything. I came out of the past and focused on what I am today. It helped me build new connections, friends, and colleagues. I have always heard this many times, “People salute the rising sun!” Now I have experienced it, and it’s true. The past doesn’t matter; it can’t define you. What matters is your present, “today”!

Freeing yourself from the past is a transformative process that requires self-reflection, self-compassion, and conscious effort. Embrace the power of the present moment, release resentment through forgiveness, reclaim your personal power, cultivate mindfulness, seek support, and create a new narrative that empowers you. Remember, the past does not have to define your future. By embarking on this journey of healing and growth, you can create a life filled with joy, fulfilment and unlimited possibilities.

Live a past-free life…
